A pet trust is a legally enforceable set of arrangements for the care of a person’s companion animal(s) after the grantor (the owner or the person setting up the trust) dies or becomes disabled.
A pet trust usually lasts 21 years or until the end of the pet’s life, whichever comes first. In some states, the maximum limit of 21 years does not apply.
