A South Dakota motor vehicle power of attorney (Form 1023) lets a principal delegate responsibilities pertaining to their motor vehicle. For example, the vehicle owner can let someone apply for a certificate of title or assign a title on their behalf.
This form is useful for when the principal is out of the country or otherwise unavailable to attend to matters relating to their vehicle. The form may contain more than one agent, but the principal should specify if they can exercise their powers jointly or severally.
