13. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

We only collect sensitive personal information, as defined by applicable privacy laws or the purposes allowed by law or with your consent. Financial identifiers are retained for up to 84 months (7 years) for legal compliance purposes. Email unsubscribe records are retained indefinitely to honor opt-out preferences.
- Category B – Up to 84 months (7 years) depending on the category of information. Financial information is retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes. Other personal information is retained for up to 24 months of account inactivity, after which it is deleted or anonymized. eSign-related records may be retained for up to 7 years from document execution.
- Category D – Up to 84 months (7 years) from the date of transaction, as required by US and Taiwan tax law and for chargeback defense purposes.
- Category F – Up to 36 months, after which behavioral analytics data is automatically deleted or aggregated. Raw export files containing internet activity data are deleted within 1 month of analysis completion.
- Category G – Up to 36 months, after which behavioral analytics data is automatically deleted or aggregated. Raw export files containing internet activity data are deleted within 1 month of analysis completion.
- Category K – Up to 36 months, consistent with our analytics data retention period, after which inferred profiles and segmentation data are deleted or aggregated into anonymous form.
- Category L – Account login credentials are retained for the duration of the account and deleted upon account deletion. Financial information entered into document templates is retained for up to 24 months of account inactivity, except where retention is required for legal compliance purposes, in which case up to 84 months. Health-related information entered into document templates is retained for the same period as the associated account per our standard retention schedule.

15. HOW WE USE INFORMATION YOU ENTER INTO LEGAL DOCUMENT TEMPLATES
When you use our document builder, you may voluntarily enter personal information into legal document template fields — such as names, addresses, beneficiary details, asset descriptions, executor information, financial account details, and health-related information — in order to create your legal documents. We store this information solely to display and populate your own documents when you log in. We do not use this information for any secondary purpose, including advertising, profiling, or behavioral analysis. We do not share the contents of your legal documents with any third party except where required by law or as necessary to provide the service (for example, where AI-powered features are used to assist with document review or summarization, in which case content may be processed by OpenAI acting as our service provider). Depending on the type of document you create, the information you enter may include details that are sensitive in nature, such as health directives, financial account information, or family arrangements contained in wills or powers of attorney. 16. BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING AND DATA PROCESSING
We engage a third-party business process outsourcing provider to deliver operational, engineering, product, marketing, and customer support services on our behalf. This provider acts as a data processor under a formal data processing agreement with Legal Templates Inc. and may access personal information only to the extent necessary to perform services directed by us. Our service provider is contractually prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than performing those services, from sharing your personal information with any third party without our prior written approval, and from combining your personal information with data from any other source. We retain the right to audit our service provider’s data processing activities and to require immediate cessation of any unauthorized processing. To the extent that your personal information constitutes personal information of California residents under CPRA, our service provider acts as a service provider as defined under that law and is bound by the corresponding restrictions.

18. DETAILED DATA RETENTION SCHEDULE
We retain different categories of personal information for different periods depending on the purpose for which they were collected and our legal obligations.
Account data — signup only users (users who created an account but never paid or started a trial): we retain your personal information for 6 months from your last login, after which your account is deleted and your personal information is anonymized. No notification is sent prior to deletion.
Account data — paid or trial users: we retain your personal information for 24 months from the date your subscription expired or your trial ended. Before deletion, we will send you an email notification with a 30-day window to reactivate your account. After 24 months of inactivity your personal information is pseudonymized and your document content is deleted.
eSign documents and associated audit trail: if you have created at least one completed eSign document, your account and associated documents are exempt from the standard inactivity deletion schedule above. We retain eSign documents for a period of 5 to 7 years from the date of document execution, as executed agreements may have ongoing legal evidentiary value. The applicable period may vary depending on the document type — wills, powers of attorney, and long-term leases may require longer retention.
Financial and transaction records: we retain payment records, subscription records, and transaction data for 7 years from the date of the transaction. This retention is required by US tax law, applicable state law, and chargeback defense obligations.
Marketing communications: if you have subscribed to our marketing emails, we retain your email address for the duration of your subscription plus 12 months of inactivity. Your unsubscribe record is retained indefinitely to prevent us from re-adding you to marketing lists in error, as required by CAN-SPAM.
Customer support records: we retain support tickets and chat transcripts for 3 years after closure, subject to legal hold obligations.
You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by visiting https://legaltemplates.net/app/dashboard/account/privacy. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days (45 days maximum under CPRA). We may retain certain information where required by law even following a deletion request.
