A North Dakota motor vehicle bill of sale form is a legal document used to show that a vehicle has been legally sold and purchased. It lists information about the buyer, the seller, and the vehicle and acts as proof that ownership of the vehicle has legitimately changed hands.
Registering a Motor Vehicle
Purchasers in North Dakota need to register their vehicles within five days of taking ownership.
They must also renew every 12 months following the initial registration, pay the associated registration fees, and provide proof of insurance.
Gather Required Documents
Before heading out to register your new vehicle, you will want to gather the following paperwork to take with you:
- Proof of Ownership:
- A valid driver’s license
-
Proof of insurance with minimum requirements:
- $25,000 for bodily injury per person

Under federal law, the Motor Vehicle Division is required to refuse to transfer ownership of a motor vehicle unless the odometer disclosure is completed.
