A Nevada medical power of attorney lets you give someone else the authority to make medical decisions for you. The person with the authority to make those decisions is your agent. They act in your best interest when you’re too sick or disabled to make decisions. In Nevada, this form is also called a durable power of attorney for health care decisions.
Laws
- Statute: Nevada Revised Statutes §§ 162A.700 through 162A.860.
- Signing Requirements: Two witnesses or a notary public (NRS 162A.790(2)).
- The witnesses should not be employees, owners, or operators of a nursing home where the principal lives.
- Revocation: You can revoke it with another medical POA, as a new document revokes any previous ones in effect. The agent must know about the revocation of their authority for it to be effective (NRS 162A.820).
