A South Dakota real estate power of attorney lets you appoint a trusted individual, such as a real estate agent you know well or a trusted friend/family member, to engage in property transactions on your behalf. As the property and principal of the POA, you must thoroughly complete the document and outline the duration of the powers you’re extending.
You should also specify the scope of the agent’s roles. For example, you may allow the agent to perform a specific action, like executing a one-time real estate contract. You may also grant them broader rights, like the ability to buy, sell, and manage your various properties for a certain period.
