A Texas motor vehicle power of attorney (Form VTR-271) is a legal document empowering vehicle owners to assign an agent (or “attorney-in-fact”) to handle specific administrative tasks, like transferring titles in the owner’s name, for their vehicles.
Please note that when an agent exercises their powers, they must provide a government-issued photo ID card to prove their identity. You should also be aware that an agent can’t exercise their powers for vehicles requiring a federal odometer disclosure.
