A Washington Subcontractor Agreement is a legally-binding document that outlines the relationship between a prime contractor and subcontractor for a particular job.
It specifies the tasks the subcontractor must complete, when work begins and ends, how much the contractor will pay the subcontractor and when, any insurance requirements, and additional pertinent details like who will provide materials and transportation.
General contractors use subcontractors when they need access to specialized skills or equipment they don’t have like electrical or plumbing. The subcontractor assists the contractor in completing a portion of a larger job. A subcontractor is not an “employee” of the prime contractor and does not have a relationship with a property owner.
