A Nevada limited power of attorney form is a legal document that allows an individual, known as the “principal,” to delegate specific decision-making powers to another person, referred to as the “agent,” typically for a particular transaction or a defined period. Through this form, the principal outlines the financial transactions and decisions the agent is authorized to handle, as well as the duration of their powers.
These powers may be set to expire on a predetermined date or once the agent has fulfilled their designated financial responsibilities. This delegation enables the agent to act with the same authority as the principal for the defined purposes.
Legal Considerations
Statute – Power of Attorney (Uniform Act).
Authority – § 162A.450 – Under a power of attorney, an agent may act on the principal’s behalf and exercise specific authority that is explicitly granted by the agreement.
Signing Requirements – § 162A.220 – Must be signed by the principal or their agent before a Notary Public. If the principal resides in a hospital, group treatment facility, or nursing home at the time the document is signed, a certificate of the principal’s competency must be attached. The certificate must be completed by an advanced practice nurse or a physician.
